We flew from Rawalpindi to Lahore. Many of us regretted flying since it was possible to make the journey by train, which might have been more fun and enable us to witness more local life.
The flight was not without mishap however, since when we were all on the plane awaiting departure, Veronica discovered that not all our baggage was on board, but would follow us on the next flight. This she absolutely refused to let them do. She got on the plane and asked for all the men of the party to get off onto the tarmac. I guess we were there as moral support, but totally unneeded since her remonstrations with the air and ground crew were much more effective than any of us could have been. For a small lady she certainly had a large impact.
